Octopus steps users through a series of simple menu choices starting with carrier. If you already have a contract with a specific wireless carrier or your cell signal booster only supports that carrier, you can select that carrier and continue. If you’re not sure which carrier is best for your cell booster installation, you can quickly scan all 4G (LTE) carriers and sort results instantly by carrier name, frequency band or signal strength using Octopus’ color touchscreen. Octopus measures 4G LTE all in one unit making it ideal for migrating from older 3G to newer 4G networks. Once you’ve selected a carrier, Octopus will display bright signal strength in real time with peak measurement as well as large text including carrier name, band number and signal strength in RSRP and RSRQ.
Octopus includes a standard SMA connector allowing a direct connection to any antenna including directional antennas usually mounted outside. Simply connect antenna line into Octopus, locate the cellular base station signal that you want to boost and go to the antenna alignment screen. From there, you receive instant measurements as you adjust your antenna for maximum signal strength. If you do not know where the best wireless base station is located, you can quickly search in every direction using a direction finding antenna and Octopus in DF mode.
