Description

TransitHound-PoE™ railway distraction detector identifies unauthorized cell phone use in any train locomotive, dispatch station or railway cab.  This sensitive receiver system detects all cellular 3G/4G/5G devices (non-mm wave frequencies) use by distracted train engineers, drivers and any operators of heavy machinery for enhanced railway safety. When connected to any railway locomotive’s ethernet network, TransitHound-PoE sends and receives data and power respectively over ethernet becoming a vital component in PTC (Positive Train Control) safety systems. TransitHound-PoE allows owners, dispatchers and managers to create timestamped alerts and triggers for video or still recording of the distracting incident. TransitHound-PoE detects any voice, text or cellular data within the cab, train locomotive or depot station.

  • Perfect for distracted train engineers and railway operators as well as distracted driving in fleets, mining operation and heavy machinery workers for improved railway safety
  • Discreet & rugged for mounting anywhere inside a cab, train locomotive, cockpit or truck
  • Power over ethernet delivers power and timestamped, recorded measurements for further analysis
  • Trigger relays to any DVR, camera or alert instantly
  • Designed & manufactured entirely in the USA

All products include standard 1 year hardware warranty.

F.A.Q.

Can the TransitHound-PoE be used to locate cell phones?

No, because TransitHound-PoE is usually deployed in a fixed position, it precludes the possibility to “triangulate” and locate the source of RF signals. By contrast, a hand-held cell detector like the Wolfhound-PRO can locate cellphones by taking two or more bearings (or, Lines of Position) of the source.

Can the TransitHound-PoE run out of power?

No, because the TransitHound-PoE does not use batteries, it derives its power externally from the same ethernet network it is connected to.

Can the TransitHound-PoE store data?

TransitHound stores no data except for measurement threshold settings.

What kind of antenna is used by the TransitHound-PoE?

TransitHound-PoE can be deployed either with an included omni-directional or optional directional antenna. TransitHound antennas are typically hidden somewhere in the cab or vehicle and connected to the unit via hidden cabling.

Does the TransitHound-PoE provide audible or visual alerts ?

The unit itself does not but TransitHound-PoE can be connected directly to a variety of audible and visual alerts including a camera and DVR for video and time stamping all cellular activity events.

Does TransitHound-PoE identify callers or their phone numbers?

No. TransitHound-PoE is a simple, low-cost RF scanning device that simply triggers when nearby cellphone activity is detected. It does not demodulate, intercept nor communicate with any cellular devices.
